Course meeting Day(s), Time, and Location: This is a self-directed virtual course that requires approximately 25 hours (or 50 hours for the extended version) of effort to be completed within a 4-week time period. It is essential to plan wisely and allocate sufficient time to fulfill the diverse tasks and assignments associated with the course. Students should plan to dedicate 6-7 hours per week for the 25-hour version or 12-13 hours per week for the 50-hour version to successfully complete the course.

Course Description:

Healthcare Provider Leadership is an intensive online course designed for healthcare professionals in any role seeking to enhance their leadership skills, decision-making abilities, and strategic thinking in healthcare environments. This course equips participants with essential skills in leadership, communication, teamwork, strategic thinking, and change management. Through interactive modules, learners explore key areas such as leadership theories, effective decision-making, crisis management, and building high-performing teams. The curriculum incorporates problem-solving frameworks and real-world applications to ensure practical leadership development. By the end of the course, participants will have developed a personal leadership plan, empowering them to lead with confidence and contribute meaningfully within their healthcare teams.

At the conclusion of Chapter 1: Introduction to Leadership in Healthcare, students will be able to:

Course Completion Requirements:

  

To receive credit for this course, students must successfully complete all lesson videos, reading assignments, case studies, challenges, podcasts, and exams, achieving a minimum score of 70% or higher on the first attempt. It is up to the educational institution to determine if a remediation session will be granted if students do not meet the passing requirement. To generate a completion certificate, you must complete the Before You Go survey at the end of the course.

        • 25-Hour Course: Students must complete all required coursework, including core lesson videos,       assigned readings, case studies, and check-on-learning questions. Activities outside the course, such as book readings, podcasts, and challenges, are not required for this version of the course.

        • 50-Hour Course: In addition to all requirements of the 25-hour course, students must complete outside-the-course activities, including a book, a challenge, and a podcast for each chapter. They will also engage in extended readings, additional case studies, leadership reflection exercises, and in-depth challenges to reinforce their learning.

                 o Students in the 50-hour course are required to document their participation time for activities occurring outside the course, including reading required books, listening to podcasts, and completing challenges. This information must be accurately recorded using the course’s reporting tool located at the end of each chapter exam and will be reported to your educational institution upon request.

                 o In addition to course content, those taking the 50-hour course will be tested on the activities outside of the course in each chapter exam.

Healthcare Provider Leadership Workbook: Both 25-hour and 50-hour course participants are required to complete the Healthcare Provider Leadership Workbook, which serves as a hands-on resource to reinforce key leadership concepts. The workbook includes reflection exercises, self-assessments, case studies, and interactive activities designed to help students apply leadership principles in real-world healthcare settings. This workbook is essential for fostering critical thinking, enhancing communication, and strengthening decision-making skills necessary for effective healthcare leadership.

  

Details Regarding Outside the Course Activities (50-Hour Course Only):

Students enrolled in the 50-hour course are required to complete additional activities outside the course, which include reading a book, completing a challenge, and listening to a podcast for each chapter. These activities are designed to enhance understanding, encourage practical application, and reinforce key leadership concepts. Completion of these tasks is an essential part of the course and will be assessed in each chapter exam. Additionally, you must log the time spent on these activities at the end of each chapter exam.

        • To fulfill this requirement, students must report the time spent reading each book using the provided reporting mechanism embedded in the course at the end of each chapter exam.
